Nikon recently announced the launch of new Nikon P1000 in the superzoom compact camera segment. This segment is also called as bridge cameras. These cameras pack fantastic and powerful features on a compact body. From clean and detailed macro shots to megazoom on to the moon and everything in between. The Nikon P-series has come a long way from the initial Nikon-P500. Nikon P1000 breaks all record with 125x Optical ZOOM. That is an astonishing 24-3000mm range.

The new Nikon P1000 is slightly bigger and bulkier in volume compared to the predecessor Nikon P900. However the most important feature is the optical zoom capability. The new Nikon P1000 offers upto 125x optical zoom. This is 42x more than the older camera. Thats staggering considering it is the optical zoom.

The newer Nikon P1000 sports a bigger 3.2″ LCD and can shoot 4k videos at 30 frames per second. The 125x optical zoom capability obviously comes at the price of significantly higher weight. The Nikon P1000 is almost 600gm heavier than the older camera. The weight is equivalent to a mid level DSLR. The sensor remains the same with slightly improved processor. However it shoots only 7fps.

It’s not just about the superzoom capability. Nikon P1000 can also shoot macro from just 1cm away. The closest focusing range is just 1cm for macro shots which is incredible range. The new Nikon P1000 can also shoot RAW images. This will really attract a lot of amateurs who wanted a DSLR. Nikon P1000 breaks all record with 125x Optical ZOOM
